ABSTRACT

Diseases caused by food consumed in restaurants during a pandemic, can cause enormous damage and lead to closure of rural households. The aim of the research was to determine the attitude of employees in rural households on the application and importance of doing business according to the HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) food safety system in 47 rural tourist households in Serbia during the COVID-19 pandemic. A structured field survey questionnaire was conducted on a sample of 286 employees. The generated data were processed by the statistical program Statistica 14.0. The obtained results show that the application of HACCP food safety system during the pandemic was highly appreciated by the employees and that operating according good hygiene practice (GHP) and good manufacturing practice (GMP) fully meets all safety requirements and the extent to which employees in rural households must be aware of and be instructed in its application.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this paper is to provide an outline of the way in which English was taught online during the first epidemic wave of COVID-19 in Serbia between March and June 2020. We will start with the hypothesis that the COVID-19 epidemic, which was officially announced on March 15th in Serbia, brought major changes in teaching all subjects at all levels, including ELT. The research is based on a survey conducted online. We gathered responses from 119 English teachers who work in state-run schools, language schools or as private tutors. The results show that the majority of the teachers used free platforms, that they had technical issues and that they have divided positions on the potential of online teaching in terms of developing particular language skills, grading and progress assessment. However, the teachers agree that classroom teaching is the preferred way of teaching, that combining classroom and online teaching is a viable option, and that online teaching is not something they would opt for unless it was absolutely necessary. © 2020 FOKUS – Forum za interkulturnu komunikaciju.
